General task-area guidance in §2.3.3; not a whole-room target.
Apply the selected task criteria to its assessment plane. Coordinate luminaire mounting, glare control and maintenance with the room and activity; the schedule does not prescribe a universal mounting height.
This guide reproduces the recommendations of the 2002 edition, not a current-edition compliance assessment. A dash means the schedule does not specify a fixed value; read the application note. Confirm the project’s governing edition and assessment plane before applying a value.

— = no fixed value specified in the table. Task-area uniformity ≥ 0.70 and surround ≥ 0.50 are separate general recommendations; see the selected reference above.
Lux is the amount.
Illuminance measures light arriving on a surface. A maintained value allows for the reduction in performance over the maintenance period; it is not simply the initial output of new fittings.
Uniformity is the balance.
U₀ compares the lowest point to the average on the same assessment grid. At an average of 500 lux, U₀ = 0.70 corresponds to a minimum of 350 lux. This edition applies the 0.70 guidance to the task area, with 0.50 for its immediate surroundings.
The task sets the target.
Storage, detailed inspection and reading need different conditions. The measurement plane matters too: a vertical rack face is different from a horizontal desk.
About this 2002 edition guide
All 50 categories and 286 task rows from §2.5 are included, covering agriculture, transport, education, healthcare, hospitality, offices, public buildings, retail and industrial processes. Printed dashes are retained as unspecified values, and conditional recommendations are included in application notes. The source schedule provides maintained illuminance, limiting UGR and minimum Ra; it does not give a separate uniformity value for every row.
Uniformity follows §2.3.3 (printed page 32): at least 0.70 across the visual task and 0.50 across the immediate surroundings. This does not automatically apply to the whole room. Colour temperature is shown only where the schedule note specifies it. This page covers the lighting schedule in this edition, not separate roadway, emergency-lighting or sports standards.
